The incident took place around 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov 3 at the intersection of Trumbull and Reservoir avenues in Bridgeport.

According to Detective Thomas Harper of the Bridgeport Police, the 19-year-old was waiting for his 9-year-old cousin at the bus stop on Trumbull Avenue when a vehicle drove up and someone inside shot him, causing life-threatening injuries.

When Bridgeport Police arrived on the scene, the 19-year-old was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital where he remains in critical condition, Harper said.

Back at the crime scene, members of the department's Fusion Center were quickly able to obtain a license plate for the responsible vehicle which was discovered to be stolen out of Trumbull.

Members of the Auto Theft Task Force were able to locate the vehicle and patrol officers attempted a vehicle stop. The driver engaged officers in a pursuit and eventually stopped on State Street, Harper said.

The 15-year-old driver was taken into custody, and a 19-year-old passenger, Carolos Matos, of Bridgeport, fled on foot but was later apprehended, police said.

The 15-year-old is being held at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center on attempted murder and assault, along with various felony charges, Harper said.

Police did not reveal charges for the 19-year-old passenger.
